About us
A New Moon is a time to rest, recharge, and renew. It is a time to remember who you are and get guidance on the road ahead. A New Moon is a symbolic portal for new beginnings. It can be frightening to those not comfortable with uncertainty. It is the moment when the old passes away and the new is not yet here! It is a powerful time for manifestations.
New Moon Empowerment Center for Young Women is an emergency center for teen mothers faced with an unplanned pregnancy. We aim to create a community of leaders and motivated individuals to lead and guide these teen mothers during their time of need.
Our Founder
Frederica Pierce grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a teen, she faced not one, but two unplanned pregnancies by the age of 19. She was a Straight A Honor Roll student and part of the National Honor Society. She also graduated with Honor’s from Southwood High School after giving birth almost 2 months before graduation. Less than 2 years after becoming a teen mother at the age of 17, she found herself pregnant again.

Although being a two-time pregnant teen mother before the age of 20 she was determined not to be another statistic that led her to failure. She went into the military in 2009 where she became a Medical Lab Tech and graduated with her Associate’s in Applied Science. She later got out of the military and pursued a nursing career, first becoming an LVN and then an RN, and is now a Labor and Delivery Nurse. L&D is truly her passion. Caring for other teen mothers is her purpose and the reason New Moon Empowerment Center was established.
As the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of New Moon Empowerment Center, Frederica has found her greatest joy in serving teen mothers as they transition into the life of motherhood. One of her favorite quotes is……. “Embrace uncertainty, some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later!” ---Bob Goff.
Frederica realizes and often tells other teen mothers that although this is their beginning and things seem shaky, scary, and uncertain, it is just the beginning, and we are here to help them plan their futures!
Our Team
Each of our team members are passionate about our mission and here to assist teen mothers in any way that we can. Our team consist of case management, mental health counselors, financial management and coaches. We are a team of volunteers and all leaders in the community.
